3 nights and 4 days of writing paradise with a minimum of 6 hours of exclusive writing time a day.

 

The place:

Kangra valley, one of Himachal’s most pristine valleys, is home to India’s First UNESCO World Heritage Village. The snow-capped Dhauladhar mountains, numerous glacial rivulets, pine forests and mesmerizing open green/golden fields along with the fresh mountain air, all bring a sense of peace and calm. Out here you are away from the daily chaos and can be truly in sync with nature. 
 
Join us for your writing escape. This will be an eclectic experience combining quality writing time, insightful feedback and interactive sessions with industry stalwarts, the spirit of nature, the craft of the locals along with delicious Indian food. Interact with other writers on their journey and published authors over informal evening drinks or morning walks and brainstorm about your work-in-progress or your finished manuscript.

RETREAT CURATOR

The curator of this retreat is Deeba Salim Irfan, founder of the portal for writers -TheWriteScene.com and the founder of the First International Young Author Awards for traditionally published authors under the age of 30.

She is also an author of a women's fiction novel, 'Urma' which has been translated into Urdu and nominated for an award. Her collection of poetry in the format of a coffee-table book, 'Charcoal Blush' won Book Excellence Award in Canada. Her next books at the edit stage are - ‘355 Days’ and 'Will Time Find Us?’

She is an MBA with over two decades of experience in advertising and has been at the helm of many top brands and strategized the launch and building of many household brands.

After a long and successful stint, she decided to follow her passion for writing and helping authors build their ‘Author Brand.’

Day 1 

Arrive by evening.

A session with Deeba - 'How to Awaken Your Muse' 

Mingle with other authors and poets over dinner and drinks.

Enjoy the scenic beauty.

‘Read Out Aloud’ - Post dinner, 30 minutes reading session of your work in progress or published work. 

 

Day 2 

Start your day with Yoga. Breakfast at 9.30 a.m.

Spend a day in the woods by the St.John's Church or get inspired by the local sights, sounds and flavors of the city. 

Back to your huts by 6 pm.

Return and interact with Premanka Goswami for one-on-one feedback.

Day 3

Start your day with Yoga. Breakfast by 9.30 a.m.

A session with Vinod Soni - IP Laws for Authors. How to safeguard what you write.

Interactive session with Premanka Goswami on Key Pointers to increase chances of getting a Publishing Contract and How to Query right? What are Indian Publishers publishing? Publishing trends for 2019. Key points to remember for a better Self-Edit?

Acoustic musical afternoon in the lawns facing the Dhauladhar range.

Interact with the other members over dinner.

A one-on-one session with Premanka Goswami, Senior Commissioning Editor of Penguin India and get feedback on your opening pages.

Day 4

Start your day with Yoga. Breakfast by 9.30 a.m.

Join Deeba in the work-room for nuggets on different aspects of building your Author Brand and PR Kit.
